Below are some further examples of my previous work as a designer at Uline Shipping Supplies, outside of Chicago, Ill.

Though my work team was primarily responsible for packaging, we liked to consider ourselves as stewards of all branded product touch-points. Any branded product may have included numerous other levels of brand interaction including instruction sheets, parts diagrams, labels, product packaging, and mailing cartons – all of which was our responsibility. As a team it was our task to research, design, proof, order, check-in, and distribute each branded item.
I worked on a small team of four people: myself and one other designer, and two others who worked in sourcing/marketing. We interacted daily to coordinate between upper management, creative leadership, marketing, merchandising, customer service, and warehouse staff to make sure customers had the intended “Uline” experience when they received a product. Since we juggled up to 900 projects a year, we relied heavily on each other to be adaptable based more on priorities of the company than our own assigned projects.
We needed to be careful of many constraints regarding tight deadlines (NOW!) and limitations in packaging size and print capabilities.
My responsibilities varied depending on what need to be done, but primarily included the following:
- Private label packaging illustration, layout, and design.
- Coordinating artwork communication for packaging production
- Responsible for writing and illustrating instruction sheets and preparing for production.
- Redesigning or revising while staying within very particular aesthetic constraints.
- Leading design initiatives for new packaging and ensuring marketing needs are met through designs.
